Alex Adam – Dip App Sc (Pod)
|Alex has been practicing podiatry in both a clinical and research for the past thirty years. He commenced practice in Western Australia where he continued his studies in functional anatomy and biomechanics at Curtin University.
Alex has been the chief Podiatrist for several local football clubs including the early stages of the Dockers and Hawthorn. He developed treatment regimes for the prevention of injuries and the improvement of on ground performance. During 1996 to 2002 Alex was the chief Podiatric consultant for the Hawthorn Football club and worked closely with the Hawthorn Physiotherapy Clinic. He continues that passion working still with football today and its young stars.
Alex has also been a consultant to several Olympic and Commonwealth game athletes where his knowledge lead to development of techniques to improve stability in the lower limb thus improving the performance of these athletes.
In 1996 Alex moved to Melbourne to continue his research at Melbourne University, looking into the structure of the mid foot and thus developed a unique technique to improve the stability of the lower limb. This technique see’s the reduction of the effects of osteoarthritis in ankles, knees, hips, and the lower back.
After completing his research Alex commenced practice opening AMA Podiatry in McKinnon Victoria where with a team of three podiatrist runs a very busy and holistic practice. Over the years Alex has developed a very extensive network of practitioners who hold simular values on patient cares as reflected at AMA. Alex Adam is the chief consultant for the southeast corridor of Melbourne and the city of Kingston Maternal Health for the past five years. Alex’s passion for podiatry, his patients and continual research are reflected in the values that he and AMA stand for. Simply to provide the very best possible services to everyone.
Michael (Tom) Breen
|Tom Breen is a qualified podiatrist graduating in 2012 from Latrobe University with a Bachelor in Health Sciences and a Masters in Podiatry.
Tom has been part of the AMA team since he graduated. With over 3 years’ experience with general and sports podiatry. He has expanded his knowledge and interest into biomechanics, skeletal alignment, paediatrics and most importantly injury prevention and sports. Tom has a hands on approach with our manufacturing @ triplane orthotics, working closely with Alex Adam to ensure that the quality is always maintained. Tom also does a day weekly externally with aged care and general aspects of podiatry.
Tom has a keen interest in sports in general, playing high level cricket, and has continued his passion with football in playing both VAFA and country leagues over past seasons.
|Grace Donohoe is a qualified podiatrist graduating in 2016 from Latrobe University with a Bachelor in Health Sciences and a Masters in Podiatry.
As a new addition to the AMA Podiatry team, Grace is conversant in general podiatry and elderly care. Grace although being a new graduate, she has shown talent and knowledge above her peers.
Grace has taken over our seniors treatment program, showing a mature and positive approach towards existing patients. With her background in dance she has a keen understanding of balance and bio mechanics, which can be a ongoing issue with the elderly.
In her spare time one of graces passions outside of work is dance. Having been a dance instructor for many years, also a keen dancer herself. Also she can be found up early in the kitchen baking for family and friends.
