JMT therapy is a hands on technique which maximises the efficiency of musculoskeletal joints , by isolating each joint and moving it through its range of motion. JMT therapy are carried out by our fully trained Podiatrists.
Joint Mobilisation is a technique AMA Podiatrists use to restore the small involuntary movements at various joint positions to restore joint motion. It helps to break up restrictions in joint tissue and to safely move a skeletal joint throughout its range of motion using small gentle passive movements.
Joint Manipulation is different because it uses more rapid movements to effected stiff joints to release pressure pockets in the joints. There are different grades of joint manipulation which can be used, with grade 1 stimulating only the receptors on the skin, while grade 5 being the strongest.
This is recommended to help restore movement to stiff joints , increase range of motion and provide reduced pain.
How does joint manipulation/mobilisation help?
When a joint is unable to move freely, a cycle of muscle spasm, pain and fatigue may occur.
JMT therapy can help with:
- Sporting injuries
- Knee pain
- Achilles Tendon pain
- Osteoarthritis
- Ankle pain
- Heel Pain
Joint manipulation can help restore normal joint function by releasing pinched joint capsules and breaking down adhesions around the joint.
AMA Podiatry has found good treatment outcomes using FMT Therapy. We generally combine this with further investigation that address the reasons (factors) of why you are having the pain/discomfort. Your Podiatrist will establish an accurate and effective treatment plan individually tailored for you.
